From “Do I Know You?” to “I Do”

The Timeless Love of Mayomikun and His Love

Some love stories begin with fireworks.
Others begin quietly, a glance, a greeting, a bus stop in Barbados.

In 2017, during medical school, she noticed him first. Radiant. Unreasonably cheerful for that hour of the morning. Greeting everyone in the lobby as though the day itself had been created just for him.

“Hello. Good morning.”

It was far too early for that kind of enthusiasm.

She thought she could avoid him.
She was wrong.

A gentle tap on her arm.
A simple question.

“Hello, good morning. Do I know you?”

And just like that, something unspoken began.

Friendship Before Forever

What they didn’t realize then was how intertwined their lives already were. Mutual friends. The same church. The same medical school. The same fellowship, one he founded, serving faithfully as Youth Pastor.

They challenged one another. Teased one another. Bickered in ways only two people comfortable enough to disagree can.

Others saw it before they did.

One friend constantly called him her boyfriend.
That friend’s mother affectionately called her “Pastor’s wife.”

Romance was never the plan.

Until 2019.

Just before he left Barbados to continue clinical training in the United States, she sent a message, almost to prove everyone wrong. A confession she assumed he wouldn’t take seriously.

His reply came quickly.

“Are you serious? Do not play with me like this. I am coming to campus. We need to talk.”

She didn’t meet him that day. She said she was shy.

But for him, everything shifted.

Years of friendship suddenly carried weight. What once felt familiar now felt intentional. Assumptions dissolved. Purpose replaced them.

And sometimes, that is how love grows, not loudly, but steadily.

Distance. Growth. Reconnection.

Life carried them in different directions for a season.

Then Chicago.

A year later, they reconnected and this time, there was clarity. Maturity. Depth.

It is a beautiful thing to witness love grow. To see it evolve from laughter and teasing into devotion and certainty. To watch two people choose each other, not out of impulse, but out of understanding.

By the time they stood before family and friends, theirs was not a fragile love. It had been tested by time and distance. It had matured in quiet spaces. It had been built long before the vows were spoken.

A Love That Felt Like Light

Their shoot was nothing short of breathtaking.

Romantic. Tender. Effortless.

They did not pose for the camera they existed within each other.

He stood for her. She leaned into him. They danced as if no one else existed. There was laughter that echoed softly. Glances that spoke without words. Hands that fit together as though designed that way.

At one point, as they swayed gently, I felt it that warmth that only comes when something is real. The light felt different. Almost like Valentine’s Day itself had wrapped around them.

And I will be honest.

I was moved to tears.

There is something deeply humbling about being invited into a love story that has history. That has intention. That has faith at its center. I felt honored. Grateful. Privileged to preserve something so pure.

This is why we do what we do.

Not just to capture how a wedding looks but how it feels.

Through Our Lens

As a photography house, we believe true luxury is not in extravagance. It is in presence. In authenticity. In calm confidence between two people who know exactly why they are standing together.

What made Dr. Mayomikun and Dr. Alaerebo extraordinary was their foundation. Friendship. Faith. Time.

That foundation translated into something rare on camera, ease. Depth. Quiet intimacy.

From a bus stop in Barbados to vows spoken in certainty, their story unfolded with grace.

Capturing it was not simply photography.

It was legacy preservation.

A Valentine’s Wish

On this Valentine’s season, we celebrate love in all its forms the quiet beginnings, the unexpected confessions, the distance that strengthens, and the joy that finally says “I do.”

Happy Valentine’s Day to every couple growing, hoping, building, and believing.

May your love be intentional.
May your story be lasting.
May your moments be beautifully remembered.

If This Is Your Season…

If you are preparing for your pre-wedding shoot, your engagement session, or simply want to document your love as it is right now, we would be honored to tell your story.

Because the most exquisite moments are not staged. They are lived.

And they deserve to be remembered beautifully.
